Review: Droid Incredible II Hands-on

Here is a full hands-on video of the new Droid Incredible II. The 4-inch WVGA Super LCD display deserves a special mention. It's one of the best LCD-based panels we've come across; bright without any leaks or spots, with naturally saturated colours, deep ink-like blacks, and superb viewing angles. It features a stunning 8 megapixel camera with LED flash. It shoots 720p HD video which might fall short of the new Samsung Galaxy S II which shoots and plays full 1080p HD video. Tell us what you think? Like or Dislike?

Android 2.3 Gingerbread: Now Available for HTC Desire HD and Incredible S

Android 2.3 Gingerbread is now here for unbranded HTC Desire HD's and the HTC Incredible S. I personally have an HTC Desire HD and the best thing about this update is BATTERY LIFE! I used to charge my phone 1-2 times a day! Now it lasts, well, about two days which for me is a drastic improvement. You will also see that the graphics seem to be much clearer and the interface is much faster. Since we have HTC Sense, I don't think we will get the new keyboard, or at least I haven't and also not new theme. This is because HTC Sense has been layered on top of the Android OS. But we are expecting HTC Sense 3.0 sometime soon.

The update will be over the air. It will show up in your notification bar...the official release was on May 16th.

Samsung Galaxy S: Gingerbread Available in Late May

Google pulled the plug the last time the update was released due to 'an issue' but this time it will definitely be released. Gingerbread will bring a noticeable improvement on multimedia and 3D apps, the interface will run faster and the battery life will apparently last longer. It will be available over the Kies Software.Samsung Galaxy S II owners will have the gingerbread update pre-installed.

CNET: iPhone 4 vs Samsung Galaxy S II

Take a look at CNET's full review of both of the biggest phones in history. It seems like the iPhone 4 has the competitive edge over the Samsung Galaxy S II. Better software, better display but both phones lose out on battery life. The Samsung Galaxy S II wins in hardware and design but the iPhone 4 just takes the better display. See the link below for an in-depth comparison:

Official: Microsoft Have Bought Skype for $8.5 billion

Yep! It's official, the giant company that only just merged with mobile phone company Nokia, have completed the acquisition of VOIP company Skype for $8.5 billion. Xbox and Kinect support along with Windows Phone support are lightly mentioned in the announcement -- both the gaming and mobile aspects being most likely the key incentives for Microsoft to acquire Skype. Importantly, this purchase will not, according to sources, affect Skypers outside of the Microsoft ecosystem. Steve Ballmer's team promises to continue "to invest in and support Skype clients on non-Microsoft platforms." More details to follow...

AT&T Rep: No iPhone 5 Launch in June or July

A customer care representative from an AT&T company suggests that the next gen iPhone, whether it be a iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, will not be released in June or July like it usually does. Here are his exact words:

'Apple has informed us that they do not plan to release the iPhone in the June to July timeframe, though there will be a newer version in the future. Unfortunately, we have not been given a release time for the new phone. We will release this information on our website when it is available to us.'

The information that we've been getting is that if not June or July then it is very likely to be released in September. Sources suggest that it will have a wider screen reaching the edges of the phone, from end to end. If the above words from the rep are not guaranteed to be true...but it's there to help influence your decision on a smartphone if you're looking for an upgrade soon.

Sony Ericsson Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro: Drastic Improvements

The Sony Ericsson Xperia x10 mini and x10 mini pro's successors are here and they are looking damn good. Both handsets now feature a 3" 'Reality Display' with the Mobile Bravia Engine.  Talk about raising the standard. This is the same technology used in the also highly rated Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. The phones sport a 5-megapixel camera along with LED flash and also a front-facing camera. They both shoot 720p HD Video. They include the Snapdragon 1 GHz processor with high speeds. Both phones will come with the latest version of Android: Gingerbread 2.3. One of the phones will feature a slide out keyboard while the other will be fully touch screen. It looks like Sony Ericsson want to up their game and quite clearly they have.

Reports Suggest the Android Market Will Overtake the Apple App Store

According to TechCrunch, the Android Market will overtake the App Store when it reaches 425,000 apps. The analysts expect the Android Market to reach 425,000 apps over the next three months, becoming the largest app store. It seems likely given the impressive growth rate of April alone, with Android developers adding more than 28,000 new apps. iOS only added 11,000.

Samsung Galaxy S II: Final Review After Release

Good

  • Beautiful 4.3-inch screen
  • Impossibly slim and light
  • Very fast
  • Great camera
  • Attractive design
  • Kies Air wireless syncing is useful

Bad

  • Not the very latest version of Android at launch
  • Some of the Samsung-added apps are rather useless

We recommend this phone to anybody looking for an upgrade. Probably even better than the iPhone. Bigger screen, better resolution, great camera, extremely fast and impossibly slim and light. People are literally going mad over this phone. I personally hope to be getting the phone very soon and I will take some hands on pictures and in depth description so you can get some detailed overview of it and a god honest opinion.

Review: LG Optimus Black vs Samsung Galaxy S II and Xperia Arc Video

Take a look at the video above to see the LG Optimus Black, Samsung Galaxy S II and Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc all in action and compared to the detail. Tell us which one you favoured and comment to pass on your experience of the phones to other people to help them decide. After watching the video, we here at MyPhoneUnlocked feel that the Samsung Galaxy S II comes out on top. Only two days ago, I got to use it and have to say it is amazingly light, amazingly thin, amazingly fast and amazingly amazing... definitely recommend it. Only downside I saw was it was quite big in my hand and many people wouldn't appreciate that.
